EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
Experiences are essential to intentional learning. To establish a meaningful connection between concepts and reflection, students must be provided with experiences. Through careful selection of appropriate opportunities, students experience learning by doing. In the context of clinical education, I believe the process of finding connections between existing knowledge and current experiences leads to new insights. Through this form of learning, it may be possible to promote a deeper understanding of the concepts (Morris, 2020).
In my role as an educator, I ensure students receive learning experiences that meet their individual needs. Experiences transform a student's understanding of concepts with concrete examples. It lays the foundation for self-reflection which strengthens their commitment to lifelong learning. I intend to facilitate learning through organizing concrete experiences that are inclusive, appropriate to the learning outcomes, and engaging. Reflection on concrete experiences and the application of abstract concepts will help learners make personal connections to their learning, resulting in meaningful learning.
